Run 4 Gambella Fun Run
Thanks to everyone who came out and ran and walked for Gambella! You can find a brief wrap-up of the event on our main blog site: http://algonquin4gambella.org/post/5744829511/that-was-a-blast.
A ‘ No Frills 5K Run and 1 mi. “pet-friendly” walk’ to help a little village in Kenya pull themselves out of poverty!
Why ‘no frills’?
Because we consider you to be a partner with us, and want every dollar you give to go to the people of Gambella!
Bring Your Own:
- T-shirt - we’ll decorate it using Sharpies (but really, who needs another t-shirt from a run anyway?)
- Water bottle or Gatorade (we won’t have any for you)
- Time piece… cuz we’re not keepin’ track
- Bib number from your favorite race
- If you think you’re going to have a strong run, feel free to bring a medal or trophy for yourself, cuz we won’t have any (and just like time, we’re not keepin’ track of places)
- Bring snacks for everyone to enjoy afterwards if you like!

Gambella, Kenya is a little neighborhood on the other side of the globe about the size of our neighborhood in Algonquin. Gambella wanted hope for their children, and were willing to work hard to give it to them. Some families in our neighborhood have partnered with Gambella through GHNI.org, and in 2 yrs time they have gone from living without hope to building a school to educate their children, growing crops for nutrition and income, built a health clinic, built homes, began businesses. All this from the sweat of their own brow, and a little help from some friends in Algonquin, IL. You can see more about our friendship with Gambella and the story of their success at A4Gblog.org, and by clicking on the links to the left.
