Let the Journey Begin!

We’re In!

Our table group (a group of five families from the east side of Algonquin, who attend Willow Creek Community Church, and regularly get together for dinner and conversation, and much more—‘community’, in a nutshell) voted last night, and we agreed to commit to a partnership with Gambella Village, in Kenya.

We’re thrilled to be able to work with Global Hope Network International (GHNI) in this partnership, as we come alongside the people of Gambella, giving them a hand-up (not a handout), as they seek to pull themselves out of extreme poverty.

We’re a little nervous, as this is new to us, and we’re not sure what kind of support we will receive from our community in this endeavor—and we will certainly need the support of our community.  But, we also know that nobody should live on less than one meal each day (or less), and we’re not going to stand idly by while people—through no fault of their own—stare in the face of such an injustice, as a part of their daily existence.  We also believe that a small group of people, can make a huge difference in the world, with a common goal, and a bit of determination.
